This Privacy Policy explains how LitSeed ("LitSeed", the "App") processes information when you use the App.
In this Policy, "we" and "us" refer to the LitSeed developer. Contact details are provided in section 21.
Privacy contact: nexy791@gmail.com
1. Overview
LitSeed is designed primarily as an offline application.
LitSeed does not require you to create an account. The App does not operate its own server for storing your book library, reading history, notes, highlights, search queries, or reader settings.
Most information created or imported while using LitSeed is stored locally on your device.
Google Analytics for Firebase measures app usage, Firebase Crashlytics processes crash diagnostics, and Firebase Remote Config delivers app settings. RevenueCat handles purchase-related information and two onboarding choices. Details and provider links are in section 19.
2. Information stored locally on your device
Books and library information
When you import an electronic book, LitSeed may store the book file in the App's private storage together with information required to manage and display the book.
Depending on the file and the information available in it, this may include the book title, authors, ISBN, description, cover image, file information, source information, and searchable book text.
Information about paper books may also be entered manually by you.
This information is processed locally and is not uploaded to a LitSeed server.
Reading activity
LitSeed may store information necessary to provide reading and tracking features, including reading position, progress, page numbers, reading sessions, session duration, reading statistics, streaks, goals, and book ratings.
These detailed reading records remain on your device. Separate app-level events, such as sessions and screen views, are processed by Google Analytics for Firebase as described in section 19.
Notes and other content you create
LitSeed may store content that you create while using the App, including notes, quotes, highlights, bookmarks, reactions, rating comments, shelf names, tags, folders, drawings, canvas elements, and images that you choose to add.
This content remains on your device unless you explicitly choose to send or share it using another application or service.
App settings
LitSeed stores settings necessary to provide and personalize the App, such as onboarding selections, reader appearance, themes, fonts, colors, reminder settings, and other application preferences.
These settings are stored locally. The only onboarding selections LitSeed sends to RevenueCat are your selected reading purpose and preferred book format, as categorical attributes for analyzing onboarding choices. Daily reading goals and reminder choices are not sent to RevenueCat as onboarding attributes.
Search
LitSeed may create a local search index from the contents of books you import.
Book search queries and the search index are processed locally and are not sent to LitSeed servers.
3. OCR and Google ML Kit
LitSeed provides optional OCR through Google ML Kit Text Recognition. The page image is stored temporarily in the App's cache and deleted when the OCR flow closes; older temporary files are also cleaned up.
Google states that OCR images and recognized text are processed on the device and are not sent to Google servers. The ML Kit SDK may contact Google for updates and sends metrics about API performance and use.
For details, see ML Kit Terms & Privacy and the Google Privacy Policy.
4. Voice input
If you choose to use voice input, LitSeed invokes a speech-recognition service installed on your device through Android.
The selected speech-recognition provider may receive and process your audio in order to convert it to text. Whether audio is processed locally or transmitted over the Internet depends on the speech-recognition provider installed or selected on your device.
LitSeed receives the resulting recognized text.
LitSeed does not operate its own speech-recognition service.
The provider's own privacy policy applies to its processing.
5. Translation
When you explicitly choose to translate selected text, LitSeed may send that text to a translation application installed on your device using standard Android functionality.
The translation application, rather than LitSeed, determines how that information is processed.
LitSeed does not operate its own translation service.
6. Sharing information with other applications
LitSeed allows you to use Android's sharing functionality.
When you choose to share information, the content that you select may be provided to the application that you choose.
Depending on what you decide to share, this may include quotes, notes, book information, reading statistics, text, or generated images.
Sharing occurs only after an action initiated by you.
Once information has been provided to another application, the privacy practices of that application apply.
7. External applications and links
LitSeed may open Google Play, your browser, your email application, or another application when you explicitly select a feature that requires it.
For example, opening a link from a book transfers the link to your browser, while sending feedback opens your email application.
Processing performed by those applications is subject to their respective privacy policies.
8. Contacting us
LitSeed does not automatically collect your name or email address.
If you contact us by email, we may receive your email address, the contents of your message, attachments that you choose to provide, and technical information normally included by your email provider.
We use this information to respond to your request, investigate reported problems, prevent abuse, maintain records where reasonably necessary, and comply with legal obligations.
Support correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for these purposes and is deleted or anonymized when it is no longer required, unless applicable law requires longer retention or the correspondence is reasonably necessary for establishing, exercising, or defending legal claims.
9. Google Play and purchases
Google Play processes installation, updates, and any purchases under the Google Privacy Policy.
LitSeed does not receive payment card details. RevenueCat uses a customer App User ID and purchase history to manage access to paid features; see section 19.
10. Legal bases for processing in the EEA and United Kingdom
Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar data-protection legislation applies and we act as the controller of personal data, processing necessary to provide functionality that you request may be based on the performance of a contract or steps taken at your request.
Processing reasonably necessary to answer support requests, maintain the security and reliability of LitSeed, analyze high-level onboarding choices and app usage, diagnose crashes, improve the App, prevent abuse, and establish or defend legal claims may be based on our legitimate interests, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
We may also process information where necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
Where applicable law requires consent for a particular type of processing, that processing must be based on valid consent rather than solely on this Privacy Policy.
Using LitSeed does not, by itself, constitute consent to processing that legally requires separate consent.
11. Data retention
Information stored by LitSeed locally generally remains on your device until you delete the relevant information, clear LitSeed's application data, or uninstall the App.
Temporary OCR images are deleted as described in the OCR section above.
LitSeed is configured to exclude its private application database, book files, and settings from standard Android automatic backup mechanisms. Some device manufacturers or operating-system migration tools may provide independent device-transfer functionality that is outside LitSeed's control.
Third-party retention depends on the service and its settings. Firebase states that Crashlytics retains crash traces and associated identifiers for 90 days before starting removal; see the provider documentation linked in section 19.
Support correspondence retained by us is handled as described in the "Contacting us" section.
12. Deleting your data
LitSeed does not currently provide user accounts and does not maintain a server-side copy of your library or reading data.
You can delete locally stored information by deleting the relevant content within LitSeed where such functionality is available, clearing LitSeed's application storage through Android settings, or uninstalling the App.
Because we do not possess a remote copy of locally stored data, we cannot remotely restore or delete that data on your device.
To request deletion of support correspondence or information we can identify and control at RevenueCat or Firebase, contact nexy791@gmail.com.
Deletion requests may be subject to limited exceptions where retention is required by law or reasonably necessary for legal claims, fraud prevention, or security.
13. Security
LitSeed uses Android application-private storage for its application data.
We limit transmission of user information by keeping the App's core reading, library, search, notes, and statistics functionality on the device.
Third-party providers apply their own security measures to information they process; their policies are linked in section 19.
No technical system can guarantee absolute security. You should also maintain appropriate security for your device, including device access controls and operating-system security updates.
14. International data processing
Google, Firebase, and RevenueCat may process information outside your country. Their data-transfer practices are described in the provider links in section 19.
15. Sale of personal information and advertising
We do not sell personal information collected through LitSeed.
LitSeed does not use the contents of your books, notes, highlights, quotes, reading history, or search queries for advertising.
LitSeed does not perform automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects or similarly significant effects concerning you.
16. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and the circumstances of processing, applicable data-protection law may give you rights to access personal data we hold about you, obtain correction or deletion, restrict certain processing, object to processing based on legitimate interests, obtain portable data where applicable, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority.
Most information created in LitSeed is stored only on your device and is therefore not accessible to us.
For information that we actually possess, such as support correspondence, or information processed by a third-party provider on our behalf, you may exercise applicable rights by contacting nexy791@gmail.com.
We may need sufficient information to verify a request where verification is reasonably necessary.
You also have the right under the GDPR to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority, including an authority in the EU Member State of your habitual residence, place of work, or place of the alleged infringement.
17. Children's privacy
LitSeed is a general-purpose reading application and is not designed to require children to provide identifying information to the Developer.
The App does not require a user account and does not intentionally request a user's name, date of birth, physical address, or similar profile information.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child has sent personal information directly to us, for example through a support email, you may contact us at nexy791@gmail.com.
Additional requirements may apply if LitSeed is specifically offered or marketed to children in a particular jurisdiction.
18. Disclosure required by law
Because LitSeed does not maintain a server-side copy of your library or reading information, we normally do not possess that information and therefore cannot disclose it.
We may disclose information that we actually possess, such as support correspondence, where disclosure is required by applicable law, a valid legal process, or is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the Developer, or others.
19. Third-party services
Google ML Kit processes optional OCR input and output on your device. It may send API performance and usage metrics to Google. See ML Kit Terms & Privacy and the Google Privacy Policy.
LitSeed uses the following services in the App. Each link leads to the provider's privacy information and technical data disclosures:
- Google Play Services provides Google platform APIs. See the Google Privacy Policy and SDK data disclosure.
- Google Analytics for Firebase automatically measures app sessions, screen views, and purchase events. Its SDK assigns an app-instance ID and may collect an advertising ID and coarse location derived from a masked IP address. See the Google Privacy Policy, Firebase privacy information, and Analytics SDK data disclosure.
- Firebase Crashlytics automatically reports crashes to help diagnose them, using stack traces, app and device information, and installation or session identifiers. Reports may include recent Analytics events as breadcrumbs and, when Remote Config rollouts are active, rollout metadata. See Firebase privacy information and Crashlytics SDK data disclosure.
- Firebase Remote Config retrieves configuration values for the App. It uses a Firebase installation ID and basic app and device information, such as the app version, language, country, and time zone, to select settings. See Firebase privacy information and Remote Config SDK data disclosure.
- RevenueCat manages paid access using a customer App User ID and purchase history. LitSeed sends only your selected reading purpose and preferred book format from onboarding as customer attributes for analysis. Book files, book text, notes, highlights, and search queries are not sent to RevenueCat. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy, Android data disclosure, and customer ID documentation.
Speech-recognition services and the apps you choose for translation, sharing, external links, or email may process information only when you invoke those features. Their own privacy policies apply.
20. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when LitSeed's functionality, third-party services, or legal requirements change.
When we make changes, we will publish the updated version and change the "Last updated" date at the beginning of this Policy.
Where applicable law requires additional notice or consent for a change, we will provide it.
Continued use of LitSeed will not be treated as consent where applicable law requires an explicit form of consent.
